We have experienced a lot of registered users that are coming from foreign IPs (India, Pakistan, etc) or registering multiple user ids. I have been banning any foreign IP registrations as I've seen no participation and can only envision those as an attempt to spam or be detrimental to the forums or our users.
I have also changed the registration process to Administrator Approval so these registrations can be monitored. It will mean a slight delay in the registration process, but will hopefully protect us all from potential spammer/hacker threats.
Would also love to go to a highlands games if there are any during our stay. I have heard that mosquitoes are terrible in the Highlands. Might like to visit the Hebraides.

Hi

I have seen lots of talk of Blair of Blair in various Blair websites and I have located the family tree down to the last hieress but does anyone have the family trees of anyother Blairs who have descended down through second sons of Blair of Blair?

I took a DNA test and my results (on 37 markers) match the 'Blair of Blair' line and I would like to check if this line is documented or whether it is unsubstantiated.

Until now it was believed that my family(who have been Kerrs in Ireland for over 300 years) were Kerrs of Kersland (neighbouring Baron to Blair of Blair in Dalry) and I would like to confirm if we are really Blairs....or in the case of lack of documentation are the people who are testing for 'Blair of Blair' really Kerrs...Im open to discussion...unfortunately at the moment there too few actual Kerrs being tested and the sample size is small plus without the documentation of the Blair of Blair line to modern times we cant really be certain.

hopefully we can have a good open discussion here and clear up the puzzle..

thanks

For many Blair researchers that are CBS members or BSGR members, the Blair DNA project is already familiar. For those that aren't familiar, then you really want to check it out.

The Blair DNA project is administered by John A. Blair of New Hampshire. John volunteered to take on the administration of this project, including an incredibly detailed web site, several years ago. The DNA research lab, Family DNA, processes the results of DNA swab kits that are sent in by people.

As a Blair descendant and genealogical researcher, I submitted my DNA swab early in the project. I found some amazing results that added to the mystery of my ancestry. It also provided DNA evidence of connections I never would have imagined. At this stage, we can't use this as definitive proof of ancestry, yet it is another means of research to help us discover our true roots.

For my own research, the DNA results have opened as many questions as it has answered. It has certainly made it more exciting. I recommend anybody that is doing research to either submit your own, if you're a Blair male descendant, or seek a close Blair relative in your line to do so. Only one submission is really necessary for close family ties. It would make no sense for my brother to submit his DNA as well. Or, perhaps even a 1st or 2nd cousin. So, for a family involved in research together, the expense of the test could be shared.

Submit your DNA, or find a Blair descendant in your line that will do theirs for you. The more submitters we can get, the better DNA map we can build for all Blair descendants.

For more information on joining the Blair DNA Project, or even just DNA research, visit John's project site at www.blairdna.com.

In case some of my "extended" family are looking, a distant cousin of mine and I are looking for a Blair descendant from the Londonderry, New Hamsphire Blairs that settled circa 1720. We'd love to compare the results of one of these descendants with my own DNA and those of the Worcester Blairs.

Happy Hunting!

Yours aye,

There was a little confusion on posting to the calendar. This is for members only and we do ask that everybody uses some discretion in what they post. All CBS members that are in the Members group in the forum can add an event to the calendar.

Here's how to add an event:

- Open the Calendar by clicking the Calendar link in the upper right.
- Click on a specific date by clicking on the number in the corner of the block
- In the middle of the screen there will be an "Add an Event" link. Click this.
- Add an Event Title, then add the event description in the big box.
- Save the event.

Note that there is actually two calendars in the system right now. One, the default, is the new Clan Blair Society Calendar. the second is the original default calendar. Eventually, I will remove the original default calendar. So, just post to that one.

Enjoy, and post any questions here.
